Abstract

Visha is classified into Sthavar and Jangam. Sthavar visha includes Vatsnabha, Erand, Kupilu, etc and Jangam visha includes snakes, insects, spider etc. Loota visha is explained in detail in Ayurveda treatises. Spiders are anthropoids. There are various species of spiders in India. Spider bites are uncommon in India, and rarely produce fatal symptoms. The severity of envenomation varies according to species, dose, and duration of poisoning. Neurotoxic and cytotoxic are the two main components of spider venom. A female patient of 32 years came with complaints of Vesicular skin lesions, Pain, and Itching on her right elbow for four days.  The case was diagnosed as Loota Visha and was effectively managed by adopting Vishaghna Chikitsa principles.
