ROLE OF VAMANA KARMA IN NEUROLOGICAL DISORDER- A REVIEW STUDY

Vamana Karma (medicated emesis procedure) means removing or getting rid of disrupted Kapha dosha by mouth. Vamana Karma is the first internal purificatory practice out of Penta cleansing procedure described in Ayurveda, which helps clean the body from superfluous and vitiated Kapha dosha and Pitta Doshas consecutively. Following the increased prevalence of Vatavyadhis (neurological disorders) such as Gridhrasi (Sciatica), Ardita (Facial palsy). Early MND and Kapha predominance parkinsonism are some Vatvyadhis (neurological disorder) Vaksha Trik Skandha, and Manyagatvata. Vamana is mentioned by Chakradatta and Mrudusanshodhana is the line of treatment of Vatavyadhi (neurological disorder) in the form of Mrudu Vamana or Sadyo Vamana. Aim: the attempt is made in this article is to search the references in bahutrayi laghutrai and ayurvedic texts and Vamana Karma related research works for neurological disorders. Material & Methods: Data source: Related data was collected from different research articles and ancient classical texts Charak samhita, Sushrut Samhita and Astang Hrudaya, Chakradatta, Vangasena, Sharangdhar Samhita. Observations: Overall outcome is vamanakarma is effective in vatavyadhi (neurological disorder). Conclusion: Vamanakarma is very effective in neurological disorders which is Kapha predominance condition or Shhotha condition, as well as the acute condition and Avarana.
